2026 Board of Directors Applications

Applications for open Board of Directors positions are due Friday, June 26, at 5 p.m. ET. 

There are five (5) open positions—four (4) Property Manager seats and one (1) Supplier seat—and elected board members will serve a two-year term spanning October 2026 to October 2028.

  • Professional headshot (JPEG format; 300+ DPI resolution preferred).  

  • Contact information (including email/mobile phone) for three member references, no more than one of which may be a Supplier member or a current VRMA board member.

What is the term of service for this application cycle? 
The term of service is October 2026 through October 2028. 

How many seats are available? 
There are four (4) open seats for Vacation Rental Managers and one (1) open seat for a Supplier. 

When will the application be available? 
The application will open on May 26 and will remain open until June 26 at 5 p.m. ET.

What references are required? 
Applicants must provide three member references. No more than one reference may be a current board member or a Supplier.  

What happens after I submit my application? 
Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview by a member of the Leadership Development Committee. Your references will also be contacted as part of the review process. 

Who is not eligible to apply? 
Individual Managers and Associates are not eligible to apply per the VRMA bylaws. 

When does voting take place? 
Voting will occur from late July through late August. 

Who will appear on the ballot? 
Any applicant who is deemed qualified by the LDC will be placed on the ballot, unless they choose to withdraw by June 24.  

 

What are the Board’s strategic priorities for 2026–2027? 
The Board establishes strategic priorities for each term to guide VRMA’s work and decision-making. The strategic priorities for 2026–2027 are: 

  • Goal 1: VRMA is the premier resource to help short-term vacation rental professionals strengthen their business. 

    • Boost member engagement through insights, feedback, alignment, and recognition. 

    • Create and enhance member-focused content and experiences. 

  • Goal 2: Goal 2: VRMA is the industry’s advocacy powerhouse. 

    • Increase resources to support state-level and local advocacy efforts. 

    • Build relationships with advocacy stakeholders within the industry, including state and local chapters. 

    • Demonstrate the impact that the industry has on local economies. 

  • Goal 3: VRMA unifies the industry 

    • Develop and strengthen industry partnerships. 

    • Collaborate with industry partners to support members and industry growth. 

    • Increase brand awareness. 


How often does the Board meet? 
The Board meets four times per year – twice virtually and twice in-person. For in-person meetings, flight and hotel costs are covered by the VRMA budget.  

What is expected of Board members before and between meetings? 
Board members are expected to thoroughly review all materials provided in advance of meetings to ensure productive and informed discussions during meetings. 

Board members will also receive weekly updates from staff and are expected to review these. 

Occasionally online votes may also occur between meetings.  

Are Board members expected to serve on committees? 
Yes. All Board members are expected to serve as a Board liaison on at least one committee and may also be asked to serve on additional committees, task forces, or special assignments as requested and appointed by VRMA’s Board Chair.
