Safety Training with Breezeway

Professional management of vacation rental properties requires ensuring rental homes are maintained to specific safety and quality standards. In a category with high turnover and unique space, rental managers and operators are challenged to deliver predictable experiences and feel confident that the property is compliant with safety standards, critical equipment is operational, and risks to guests and owners are mitigated.

VRMA members are committed to the professional management of their rental properties and the safety of their guests and owners. As part of this commitment to safety, VRMA is partnering with Breezeway, an award-winning property care platform, to offer a property safety course. This course is free for all VRMA members.

Safety as an Everyday Price

Maintaining the safety, health, and security of each property is an ongoing, everyday practice. VRMA members, their staff, and service providers need to be aware of industry best practices to maintain the quality and safety of their rental homes while continuously monitoring for safety risks and mitigating issues at the property. To incorporate safety into the culture of property management, members should:

  • Complete the VRMA + Breezeway Property Safety Training Course
  • Designate an individual or service partner as the primary Property Safety Coordinator
  • Stay current on safety guidelines and industry best practices
  • Train staff and service providers on the process of raising safety concerns
  • Implement a standard property safety review program or agency safety policy

Property Safey Review versus Property Inspections

Vacation rental managers are accustomed to regular property inspections for quality assurance and brand compliance before guest arrival. The focus of these important inspections is typically on the cleanliness and surface condition of the rental home.

Property safety reviews are a type of property inspection focusing specifically on safety attributes, property conditions, and the proper functionality of critical elements in the home. With appropriate training and scheduling, these safety reviews can be incorporated into routine property inspections. Thorough Property Safety Reviews should be completed annually on all vacation rental properties.
