Important Information Regarding the 2020 VRMA European Conference

Dear friends and colleagues,
Earlier this week, we shared a message that we were monitoring the escalating global impact of COVID-19, and that the 2020 European Conference would proceed as planned.
After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders, and considerable evaluation of the evolving situation, we have decided to postpone the conference in the best interest of all involved.
This decision was not made lightly. The VRMA board of directors spent considerable time discussing and deliberating our options.
We know that this conference continually provides a valuable in-person opportunity for our attendees to learn, network, and socialize with each other.
At the same time, the well-being of our constituents is of utmost importance and our top priority. The ongoing spread of COVID-19 has resulted in mounting concern over health safety, along with travel advisories, restrictions, flight and event cancellations in Portugal, and government health warnings. It has become clear that the most responsible path forward is to forgo an in-person gathering in Lisbon at this time.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this change may cause you and your business.
We will share more information in a separate communication to attendees regarding registration fees paid, refunds, and next steps. If you made a hotel reservation at the Intercontinental Lisbon, we encourage you to contact the hotel immediately to inform them of your changed travel plans.
While this international public health situation is out of our control, we recognize the disappointment that comes with having to postpone something that many have worked hard to plan and prepare for. Thank you to our community of speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees for your understanding and support.
As I shared in an earlier communication, vacation and holiday rentals bring people together. While we are saddened by the global impact of COVID-19, we also are confident that our industry will rebound through the collective strength, support, and encouragement of our members and partners.
We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you regularly informed of any decisions that may impact future events.
