Malaysia could become the first country in Southeast Asia to implement nationwide restrictions on short-term rental (STR) platforms, shortly after the island of Penang announced in May that it was imposing a partial ban on STR operations.
The Greenville City Council, SC, has approved a new development code, which will continue to include rules on short-term rentals (STRs) when it becomes effective July 15. Airbnb, meanwhile, is pushing cities to treat short-term rentals policy as a stand-alone set of rules.
